The Upanishads

Now, we are entering into a subject area connected with the Upanishads belonging to the Sukla Yajurveda. They are also known as Sukla yajurvedeeya Upanishads. The first among them is the Eesaavaasya Upanishad with 18 mantras. They are part of the Sukla Yajurveda.

If we understand this Upanishad we can say the real essence of the vision of India is given here. The message has been quoted profusely in Bhagavath Geetha in different ways, particularly in the second and third chapter of Geetha. We can even say that Geetha is a practical commentary of Eesaavaasya Upanishad.

The lines from Geetha says that “ sarvopanishado gavo dogdhaa gopaala nandana… The Upanishads are the cows and the Geetha is the milk taken from them by Lord Krishna. The first line of Eesaavaasya Upanishad is Eesaavaasyam idam sarvam yath kinchith jagathyaam jagath…..the whole world/universe is the manifestation of the divine power…….!

Many people ask the question what is the difference between the Semitic religion and Hindu dharma! Here is the answer..! In Semitic religion the god CREATED the world, but in Hindu dharma the god MANIFESTED as the world. That is why we say all whatever is seen here are the manifestation of divine power including human beings. This is the first line of the Upanishad. *Whatever we are offering to god is also the manifestation (and part and parcel) of the divinity.

This message is stressed in the second & third line of this Upanishad. The perfect ‘socialism’ is also given in the same line “ never expect from others or loot others’ property”. It is mentioned that there are two worlds. The world of demonic forces and the world of divinity. General tendency of everyone is always to move towards demonic / aasuric world. The asuric world leads to destructions and pains. This world is said to be dark, where the truth, fact and essence cannot be seen.

The divine world is positive and constructive; always refreshing and glorious, where the divinity manifested maintains a balanced world order. That divine power is “ neither moving, nor resting. That is present in the farthest distance and also nearest to us. That is present inside everything and outside too… “ That divine power is manifested in this world. A perfect mixing of science and spirituality can be seen when we further move forward through the lines
